AIA Professional Qualification: Accountancy

A single unit covering 4 components:

Financial Accounting
Management Accounting
Corporate Governance & Audit
Business Management 

Exam

A single, multiple choice, 3 hour online exam covering all four components within the unit.

Exemptions for prior learning are available and further details can be found on the Exemptions Database. 

Award: Certificate in Accountancy

Once you have passed the AIA Foundation Level integrated exam you will be awarded the AIA Certificate in Accountancy.

This Certificate is attainable in 6-12 months depending on prior learning.

What will I learn?

On completion of this qualification you will:

• Have a practical understanding of the techniques, principles and knowledge which form the basis of accounting.
• Be able to apply your knowledge in the workplace in controlled, supervised, and routine situations, and
• Have the ability to identify and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to address broadly-defined, complex problems.

This is Professional Level 1 of the AIA Professional Qualification, which includes the following papers:

MODULE C

7 Auditing
8 Company Law
9 Management Information

MODULE D

10 Business Management
11 Financial Accounting 2
12 Management Accounting 2

On completion of all six papers, the student is awarded a Diploma in Accountancy

On completion of this qualification you will:

• Acquire significant technical development of professional knowledge and skills within an increasingly analytical and critical framework.
• Gain the ability to refine and use relevant understanding, methods and skills to address complex accounting problems and take responsibility for planning and developing courses of action that are able to underpin substantial change or development, as well as exercising broad autonomy and judgement.
• Gain an understanding of different perspectives, approaches and schools of thought and the theories that underpin them.

This is the final level of the AIA Professional Qualification, which includes the following papers:

14 Financial Management

MODULE F

15 Professional Practice (Auditing)
16 Taxation & Tax Planning

On completion of these four papers and with the appropriate work experience you will achieve qualified accountant status.

• Plan and develop courses of action underpinning substantial development, as well as exercising broad autonomy and judgement. 
• Have an understanding of relevant theoretical and methodological perspectives, and how they affect your area of study or work.
