AIA Writes to New Government Setting Out Priorities for Reform

The Association of International Accountants (AIA) has written to the Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, to outline key areas of reform which it considers are necessary to strengthen the UK economy and secure future growth. 

AIA encouraged the newly elected government to take immediate steps to encourage growth and investment in the following key areas: 

  • Audit and Corporate Governance Reform 
  • Supporting Small Business and Practitioners 
  • Green Finance and Sustainability 
  • Improving HMRC and Raising Standards 
  • Regional Growth and Professional Services 

David Potts, AIA Director of Policy & Regulation, said "AIA is ready to work with the new government to drive forward necessary reforms to strengthen the UK economy and ensure the financial and related professional services industry continues its vital role in securing the UK's future success. By focusing on key areas such as audit reform, SME support, and green finance, we can build a resilient and thriving accounting sector."
