Working Together is currently a partnership between HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) and agent representative bodies. The core purpose of Working Together is to improve all areas of HMRC operations for the mutual benefit of agents, their clients, HMRC, and all of HMRC’s customers.
Working Together provides a forum in which to identify, discuss, define or make suggestions for improvements to operational issues or problems; and provides processes and routes for escalating these, and wherever possible resolving them, and publishing the resulting solutions or improvements.
Working Together also provides a forum where HMRC can publicise and explain key messages and developments to agents, and consult with them on proposed operational changes.
Working Together is comprised of a network of local groups across the UK. The members of each group share, discuss and define potential issues before submitting them to their co-ordinator. They also meet regularly, normally three or four times per year, to discuss that work face-to-face, and to take part in other activities. The meetings are intended to strengthen local liaison between tax practitioners and HMRC and to improve the operation of the tax system.
