October 1975 saw the Singapore Hilton play host to a group of pioneering AIA graduates who formed the first Singapore Branch Committee and elected Lee Fook Hong as the first Branch Chairman. To make the AIA qualification more relevant to local students, an immediate decision was taken to introduce exams based on Singapore Tax and Company Law.

In 1987, the Singapore Branch was instrumental in ensuring that the amendments to the Singapore Companies Act were drafted to include AIA members as statutorily recognised company secretaries. In the following year, the Branch was admitted to the Singapore Professional Centre, of which the Branch continues to remain an active member.
