AIA URGE MEMBERS TO SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITIES DURING THE FESTIVE PERIOD

It’s the season for giving.

Here at the Association of International Accountants (AIA) we have been supporting Newcastle West End foodbank, a locally based charity during this festive period.

The Newcastle West End foodbank is part of The Trussell Trust’s network of 428 foodbanks, working to tackle food poverty and hunger in local communities across the UK.

Sharon Gorman, AIA Director of Development, commented: “During the festive period it is always worth remembering the sentiment of giving, and I would urge everyone to support their local charities whether it be with your time or finances.

“With the fantastic support and generosity of our members, council and staff we have been able to make worthwhile contributions to the foodbank in the lead up to Christmas.”

In most cases foodbanks can support people in overcoming their food crisis after three visits. The Trusts approach has provded successful in helping people break their dependency on the foodbank, re-engage with employment support and encourage social integration within the community.
