AIA COUNCIL MEMBER CONTRIBUTES TO FIRST FINANCIAL CONGRESS IN GREECE

On the 22 February 2018, Association of International Accountants (AIA) Council Member and Greece and Cyprus Branch Chairman, George Josephakis was invited to contribute to the 1st Financial Congress.

The Congress was organised by the Greek Army, and held at the War Museum of Athens with the primary theme focusing on “Financial Management in the Modern Public Environment: Approaches-Challenges-Perspectives in the Land Army”.

Mr Josephakis was invited to present on the topic of ‘International Financial Reporting Standards for the Public Sector’, alongside Officers of the Economic Division of the Army, Academics and other executives from the private sector. Topics covered within the Congress included defence expenditure, audit procedures, electronic procurement, human resource management and other financial management issues.

The conference gave the opportunity to open a permanent channel of communication between the economic division of the Land Army, the academic community and the private sector, with mutually beneficial results through synergies, both in theory and in practical terms.

Speaking after the event, George Josephakis, said: “It was an absolute pleasure to be invited to present at this event. I look forward to working closely with the military moving forward to offer more detailed training on IFRS and IPSAS.”
